
Looking for a summer activity for your kids?! Join What-A-Do theatre for our kids summer camp: Frog & Toad! Camp is for kids ages 6-10 years old. Camp runs Monday, June 5-11: Students rehearse during the day from Monday-Thurs 9am-3pm, and Friday 9am-7:30pm (What A Do provides dinner). We will have auditions on Monday, June 5. Students will complete an audition workshop. Staff will cast the show after lunch. Students will then rehearse for the remainder of the week in effort to get ready for our performances for the weekend.
Cost:
$200 (Scholarships available through BCreative). Costs include photo stills from the show, t-shirt, script, online access to music, and two meals on the performance weekend
Pick Up/Drop Off:
Students can be picked up and dropped off at the lobby of the Binda Performing Arts Center located on KCC Campus. Please come into the building for drop off/pick up on the first day for students so we know who is responsible for your child. Students may ride with other families if there is written permission that is provided to What A Do Staff Members. Staff arrives at the theatre at 8:50am. Morning drop-off is from 8:50-9:00am. Afternoon pick-up is from 3:00-3:15pm. If an emergency occurs, please contact the theatre to let us know if you will be late.
Snack/Lunch:
Students are given 30 min to eat lunch. We have snack breaks in the morning, so they may bring a snack if they would like during their morning break. Lunch is not provided by the theatre so please have students bring their own. We have a fridge if students need to use it.
Friday Rehearsal (June 9):
Students will be dropped off at 9:00am and will stay with us at the theatre for the entire day. Please pack a lunch for your child. Dinner will be provided by the theatre. Students are free to leave after their performance. Please make sure they have all their belongings!
Performances:
Friday, (June 9) at 6:30pm
Saturday, (June 10) at 3:30pm
Sunday, (June 11) at 3:30pm
*Strike will take place after this final performance. All cast members are required to help clean. The process should take 1-2 hours if we start right after the show ends.
Tickets:
Tickets will be general admission. Tickets will be $10 (ages 12+) and $5 for children.

Cost:

Materials:
Materials will be available before the program starts. If tuition is paid in full, you may pick up a script and it is yours to keep.
Auditions:
Auditions will take place on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00 pm at The Music Center (Kellogg Community College Campus, Davidson Building, 450 North Ave, Battle Creek.) Students will be reading from the script. If you are interested in a speaking/singing part, please select 16-32 bars of music from the show that will highlight your voice for the character/characters that you are auditioning for. If you are interested in more than one character, please only select one for audition music and if there is time, you may be able to read for more than one during the audition process. Auditions will be 2 hours pending how many are enrolled. If you cannot attend this audition, please send in a video audition no later than this date for casting consideration. If you are not interested in a speaking role, you do not need to audition.
No Refund Policy:
Our summer youth program is designed as a learning experience for actors. To audition and to be a part of the program, tuition is due before the audition process begins. If a student drops after the audition period, they will not be eligible to receive a refund.
Schedule
Auditions:
Auditions will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00pm. The audition will take place at The Music Center (Kellogg Community College Campus, Davidson Building, 450 North Ave, Battle Creek.)
Rehearsals:
Week one rehearsals: July 17 - 21 will take place at The Music Center (Kellogg Community College Campus, Davidson Building, 450 North Ave, Battle Creek.) from 9am-3pm.
Week two rehearsals: July 24 - 28 will take palace at KCC Binda Theatre (450 North Ave, Battle Creek) from 9am-3pm.
Performances:
Friday, July 28 - Students will be dropped off and will stay with staff all day to prepare for the show. What A Do will provide dinner for the cast. Performance will be at 7:30pm and students are dismissed following the performance.
Saturday, July 29 - Performances at 3:30pm (call 2:15pm) and 7:30pm (Food Provided in between shows). Actors will be permitted to leave between performances if it has been communicated with a staff member.
Sunday, July 30 - Performance at 3:30pm (call 2:15). Strike following performance. Strike is mandatory for all participants.

Tickets are general admission, the cost is $12 for age 12 plus, $10 for children.
